The US dollar’s exchange rate against the Egyptian pound remained stable on Thursday, November 20, 2025. This consistency was observed across government and private banks operating in Egypt, as well as exchange companies. The stability comes just hours before the Central Bank of Egypt’s seventh meeting of 2025, where the future of deposit and lending interest rates will be decided.
In the previous meeting held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, the Central Bank’s committee decided to cut interest rates on deposits and overnight loans by 100 basis points. As a result, the deposit rate was set at 21.00%, the lending rate at 22.00%, and the main operation rate at 21.50%.
The exchange rates today reflect this context. The Central Bank of Egypt recorded the US dollar buying rate at 47.33 Egyptian pounds and the selling rate at 47.47 pounds. Similarly, the National Bank of Egypt showed rates of 47.34 pounds for buying and 47.44 pounds for selling the dollar.
At the Bank of Egypt, the buying rate stood at 47.33 pounds, with the selling rate at 47.47 pounds. Meanwhile, the Bank of Cairo offered a slightly lower buying rate of 47.13 pounds and a selling rate of 47.23 pounds.
The Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank quoted the US dollar at 47.37 pounds for buying and 47.47 pounds for selling. Likewise, the Suez Canal Bank’s rates were 47.37 pounds for buying and 47.47 pounds for selling. The Commercial International Bank (CIB) listed the buying rate at 47.34 pounds and the selling rate at 47.44 pounds.
This steady performance in the dollar exchange rate precedes the upcoming central bank meeting, marking a key moment for Egypt’s monetary policy direction in the coming period.
