وزير التموين يعلن توفر السكر الحر في المجمعات بسعر 28 جنيه للكيلو
Sharif Farouk, the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, confirmed the availability of free-market sugar at consumer cooperatives affiliated with the Holding Company for Food Industries, priced at 28 Egyptian pounds per kilogram.
Farouk highlighted that the Holding Company for Food Industries supplies large quantities daily to ensure the needs of citizens are met and market stability is maintained. He explained that offering sugar at this price aims to ease the financial burden on citizens.
He also noted that the ministry’s affiliated companies are committed to maintaining a continuous flow of goods sufficient to meet the demands across various geographic areas. The minister emphasized that Egypt holds a substantial and secure strategic reserve of sugar, capable of meeting market needs for extended periods. This reserve enables the ministry to act decisively in increasing supply and regulating the market effectively.
In his instructions to Dr. Alaa Naji, CEO of the Holding Company for Food Industries, Farouk directed the continuous supply of free-market sugar at consumer cooperatives. He also called for strengthening stockpiles of essential goods, especially sugar, oil, and rice. The minister assured that the ministry would not hesitate to take any additional measures necessary to maintain the availability of goods at affordable prices for citizens.
In a related move, Farouk instructed the Holding Company to intensify the distribution of free-market sugar through the “One-Day Markets” initiative. This program targets villages and the most underserved areas to facilitate access to essential goods close to residents’ homes, with prices matching those in consumer cooperatives. He pointed out that these markets have attracted significant public interest, offering high-quality goods at reduced prices. This effort is part of the ministry’s broader plan to maintain an active field presence and ensure market stability.
